New Opportunity for Language Practice
LiteraKurd will host Kurdish language conversation sessions every Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., designed specifically for those looking to enhance their speaking abilities in a supportive environment.
The sessions particularly target individuals who understand Kurdish but struggle with verbal expression – those who often say, "I understand but can't speak." Participants will engage in guided conversation practice aimed at building confidence and fluency in everyday Kurdish.
These weekly gatherings are open to anyone interested in improving their Kurdish language skills, with no prior registration required.
LiteraKurd Literary House Opens in Diyarbakır's Historic District
The LiteraKurd Literary House opened its doors to literature enthusiasts on April 6, 2025, in Diyarbakır's ancient walled city. The opening ceremony featured Serdar Şengül and Mehmet Dicle presenting on "Kurds, Cities and Literature in the Modern Era," followed by a reception.
Literary houses play a crucial role in the development and promotion of literature, cities, and national identities worldwide. LiteraKurd was established to serve as a hub for Kurdish language and literature, aiming to enrich the city's cultural landscape while creating connections between Kurdish literature and global literary traditions.
Mission and Vision
LiteraKurd seeks to bridge Kurdish literary works that have been separated by political and linguistic boundaries. The center aims to bring Kurdish writers and readers together, fostering contemporary literature through writing workshops and courses.
"Our mission is to collect our scattered literary memory through collective action," states the organization. "We will host both Kurdish and international writers, creating meaningful exchanges between authors and readers."
The center represents the culmination of ideas and efforts from numerous Kurdish writers and intellectuals.
